Central America, with a population exceeding 50 million, holds significant strategic importance for the United States. While in a region with significant economic and political challenges, nations such as Costa Rica and Panama have emerged as important American partners with U.S. support.

Located along the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean, both countries have made notable advancements in both democratic governance and economic development. Specifically, Costa Rica's accession to the OECD and Panama's high ranking on the Human Development Index underscore the positive impact of U.S. investments in fostering the progress of key allies and promoting American interests abroad.
