Colin Christensen

One Acre Fund

Colin has spent his career with organizations committed to innovative, impact-focused approaches to international development. He has worked with One Acre fund since 2015; until 2019 he led the Government Relations department, based out of Kigali, ensuring close partnerships with governments in the 9 countries where One Acre Fund works. Since then he’s been based in the Washington, DC area as One Acre Fund’s Global Policy Director, tasked with helping to ensure that the pressing needs of Africa’s smallholder farmers are addressed comprehensively in policy and funding conversations outside the continent.

Before One Acre Fund he directed government relations for Bridge International Academies, which runs low-cost private schools in Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria and Liberia; he was also Country Director for Innovation for Poverty Action (IPA) in Kenya, which conducts rigorous impact evaluations of development projects to assess what actually works to alleviate poverty. Colin has an MA in international development from Tufts University (the Fletcher School), and a BA in History from the University of Texas at Austin. He currently lives in Takoma Park, Maryland, and tries hard to follow the example of his wife and not yell too loudly from the sidelines while watching his two soccer-obsessed kids play in their many games.
