As the youngest Congressman in the House of Representatives, Rep. Schock brings unparalleled vitality and a proactive spirit to the CCEFA.  Despite his age, he has garnered the respect of senior Representatives, earning himself the position of Deputy Republican Whip in the House along with appointments to a number of highly coveted committees.  CCEFA marks the tenth Caucus he has joined since assuming his place as the Representative for Illinois’ 18th District.

More substantively, Congressman Schock has made great strides to propel the U.S. Congress along an innovative and progressive foreign policy path.  He has taken an active role in the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission and has cosponsored a number of foreign policy bills, which demonstrate his understanding of the need to evaluate U.S. policy over a long-term time horizon and in the greater context of the global community.  Specifically, he cosponsored H. Res. 296, which supports the people of Syria as they seek to exercise universal rights and pursue peaceful democratic change.  The bill also condemns the human rights abuses of the government of Syria, including its use of lethal violence, torture, mass arrests, and the halt of basic services.  His willingness to throw his support behind a bill directed towards preserving and promoting universal human rights will certainly be welcome on the CCEFA.  With novel ideas and confidence to attack controversial international issues head on, Rep. Schock will be a valued addition to this caucus.
