UPDATE: Organizations that have signed MFAN’s Open Letter

Last week, MFAN launched the Reform Within Reach campaign, urging President Obama to show leadership on foreign assistance reform and strengthen the U.S. commitment to development.

The centerpiece of the campaign is the “Open Letter to President Obama on the U.S. Commitment to Global Development.” The Open Letter calls for President Obama to create America’s first-ever Global Development Strategy and partner with Congress to rewrite the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961. We are calling for action by the time of September’s Millennium Development Goals Summit, when the eyes of the world will be on development. Last year, President Obama promised to come to the Summit with a plan for how the U.S. will increase its impact in the fight against global poverty. Our recommendations would be big steps in highlighting America’s renewed resolve and leadership.

MFAN would like to highlight the following organizations who have joined our efforts!

3D Security Initiative, Eastern Mennonite University

Americas Relief & Development Team

Center for Health and Gender Equity

Global Action For Children

International Housing Coalition

Check back regularly for updates and please consider having your organization sign MFAN’s open letter! The deadline to sign on is THIS FRIDAY, July 23.  For more information contact jrothenberg [at] www.modernizeaid.net.
